Why do I need to have a savings account with the credit union?
Your $25.00 in a savings account means you own one share of the credit union and are a part owner with full voting rights. Once you are a member/owner of the credit union, you are eligible to take advantage of the other services available at the credit union. If your savings balance falls below the $25.00 level, you will need to make a deposit to bring the balance to back up to $25.00 to maintain your membership.
How long do I have to be off work before disability insurance starts paying my loan payments?
If you purchased your insurance through the credit union, you need to be off work at least 14 days (not 14 business days). We do not have the claim forms at the credit union. If you need a claim form, contact Monica Edwards at 872-8151 or Leslie McReynolds at 872-8153, and they will have a form mailed to you. Once the form is completed, return it to Monica or Leslie and they will submit the claim for payment.
Is my money insured to $250,000 or $500,000?
The credit union provides $250,000 coverage provided by the National Credit Union Insurance Fund and an additional $250,000 of Excess Share Insurance coverage for a total of $500,000 per share account, in coverage.
If I am going to use my card on vacation, should I do anything before my trip?
Anytime you notify the credit union's credit card department of an upcoming trip, we can do a few things to help keep your card use from being interrupted. We can make note of where and when you will be traveling. This way the fraud department will know it is you using the card and that it hasn't been stolen. It is also helpful to provide a cell phone number so that we can contact you while you are traveling in case there are any questions.
What do I need to open an account at Decatur Earthmover Credit Union?
You will need to provide a valid Illinois driver's license or valid Illinois state ID card and your Social Security card.
If I lose one of my DECU cards (membership, ATM, debit, or credit) what should I do?
If you happen to lose or misplace one of your Earthmover cards, the following steps will help you out depending upon which card you lost.
If you lose your:
Membership Card - Contact the credit union (875-2301 or online) so we may put a warning message on your account. We will then request additional identification for all transactions.
ATM Card - Contact the credit union (875-2301 or online) so we may put a warning message on your account. We will then request additional identification for all transactions. We will also block your ATM card, and you may then come to any of our branches to get a replacement card.
Debit or Credit Card - Call 1-800-449-7728 to report your card as lost. This will put a block on your card and start the process of getting your card reissued. You should also call the credit union so we may put a warning message on your account. We will then request additional identification for all transactions.
