Frequently Asked Questions
How many times can I use my ATM card before I get charged a fee?
You may use machines owned by Decatur Earthmover as many times as you would like without being charged a fee. You may use your cards at other machines five (5) times each month without being charged a fee. After the five (5) free times at other machines, you will be charged $1.00 every time you use a non Earthmover ATM machine through the end of the month.
Does Decatur Earthmover charge a fee to use their ATM machines?
We do not charge a fee to use our machines (click here for a list of DECU machines), whether you are a member of the credit union or not. To get a list of other ATM machines that do not charge a fee to use click here.
Why was my ATM card taken by the machine?
There can be several reasons why the ATM machine failed to return your card. The ATM machine may have malfunctioned, if the PIN number is entered incorrectly three times the machine will also keep the card. Another possibility is if the card is not taken out of the machine within the allotted time period after the transaction is completed, the machine will keep the card. Lastly, the machine may have been instructed to take the card by us. If the card was reported lost, your accounts currently have negative balances, or if there has been NSF activity on your account, we will instruct the machine to keep your ATM card.
Why won't the ATM machine let me withdraw more than $100.00?
Our ATM cards have a withdrawal limit of $500.00 per 24 hour period. If there is a problem with the phone lines or the in-house system is down, we are unable to verify balances in your accounts. In this situation, the withdrawal limit is lowered to $100.00 per 24 hour period. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but this prevents members from overdrawing their accounts by mistake.
Can I make credit card payments at the credit union?
Yes, you can. We post payments at all locations once a day. The payments will show available on your credit card two days after you make the payment.
Why doesn't my credit card work when I am just a day late on my payment?
The credit card system is set up so as to not allow any new purchases to be made on an account that is delinquent. While this may seem rather harsh, it is to prevent someone who is having problems with their finances from getting further into debt or trouble with their credit cards.
If I am going to use my card on vacation, should I do anything before my trip?
Anytime you notify the credit union's credit card department of an upcoming trip, we can do a few things to help keep your card use from being interrupted. We can make note of where and when you will be traveling. This way the fraud department will know it is you using the card and that it hasn't been stolen. It is also helpful to provide a cell phone number so that we can contact you while you are traveling in case there are any questions.
Can I have more than one credit card account so that I can use it on the internet only?
Yes. If you note that you would like to obtain an "Internet Only" credit card on your application, we can set the credit limit for that specific card to $500 or $1000.
If I lose one of my DECU cards (membership, ATM, debit, or credit) what should I do?
If you happen to lose or misplace one of your Earthmover cards, the following steps will help you out depending upon which card you lost.
