Coffee Talk

Posted September 6th, 2017

Coffee makes our caffeinated world go ‘round. And many of us are loyal to one brand, blend, or flavor. But if your morning commute includes a pop-in to one of those big chain coffee houses, you may be spending more on java than you realize.

Fortunately, there are some yummy ways to cut costs and retain the flavor you crave.

Don’t be fooled by brand names
Starbucks Frappuccinos are delicious, but expensive. Most places you go will have an iced latte drink that can be ordered with extra syrup. Honestly, it’s basically the same thing.

Let your kids grind it out!
My kids love using our automatic coffee grinder. And when you buy whole coffee beans from your local grocery store, you'll end up spending less and enjoying fresher coffee.

Buy a coffee maker and set it the evening before
Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up to the smell of brewing coffee? And enjoy it, in your pajamas, for a fraction of the cost? Making your own coffee in the mornings and avoiding the drive-through will save you big bucks in the long-run.

Be your own Barista

Once you start making your own coffee, have fun experimenting with new flavors. Add cinnamon, vanilla extract, or cocoa to the coffee grounds. Buy some seasonally-flavored creamer. You may discover an entirely new way to enjoy your java!

Look for Coffee Deals Online
Lots of places also have rewards cards or punch cards, so if you go often, be sure to keep track. And check into GoodFinancialCents.com for more deals and money-saving tips.
