Less stress, better health, fewer things. Living a simpler life doesn’t have to be something we just dream about. There are a lot of things you can do, bit by bit, to live a simpler life. Here are 3 to get you started:
Limit your tech life
We understand the irony; reading a blog online about limiting your tech life. But seriously, keeping up with less things will help you stay in the moment. We all have email, skype, texts, and calls. Then there’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. That doesn’t even include the media we consume on TV and radio. It might be time to downgrade to a basic phone, get rid of one of the TVs in your home, or (dare we say it) limit your social media.
Eat simpler food
Eating clean is all about eating foods that are fresh, natural, and minimally processed. Think along the lines of grass-fed meat, free range poultry, and organic fruits and veggies. When you start to think about narrowing your food choices down to fresh, organic, and unprocessed, your shopping should get simpler too. And who wouldn’t love a simpler trip to the store?
Everything. It sounds daunting, but if you break it down one room at a time it’s not so bad. Getting rid of things you don’t need or simply don’t use anymore can be empowering. It lightens the load. You may find your home now has extra space to relax in, or you may realize it’s time to downsize. Bonus: Goodwill and area resale shops love receiving nice, gently used household items.
The great thing about living a simpler life is, anyone can do it. No matter what stage of life you’re in, there’s something we can all do to lighten the load. The world wide web is full of ideas and tips for living a simpler life. No matter what, take it one small, simple step at a time.
