It’s Where We Live, Work, & Play
There is a lot going on in our community. So many wonderful organizations making lives better and we are proud to be a part of that. If you like to be out and about look for us at local events.
2022 Project Read Plus
Project Read Plus helps adults improve reading and math skills through free one-on-one tutoring with trained volunteers. With increased knowledge and skills, students can meet personal goals and qualify for job training and jobs. Project Read Plus students tell us their achievements not only improve their lives but also the lives of their children and grandchildren.
In addition, we partner with Crossing Healthcare in the RESTORE program at the Macon County Jail. Crossing works with inmates with substance abuse disorders and as part of RESTORE, Project Read Plus provides tutoring to help participants increase their skills for employability.
Project Read Plus Director Julie Pangrac points out, "We believe in 'Change an Adult. Change a Family. Change a Community.' As we support adults who are working hard to change their lives, they then help their families change. Those kinds of generational changes impact our community in positive ways, and the result is that we all benefit!"
