Project Read Plus students tell them their achievements not only improve their lives but also the lives of their children and grandchildren.

In addition, they partner with Crossing Healthcare in the RESTORE program at the Macon County Jail. Crossing works with inmates with substance abuse disorders and as part of RESTORE, Project Read Plus provides tutoring to help participants increase their skills for employability.

Project Read Plus Director Julie Pangrac points out, "We believe in 'Change an Adult. Change a Family. Change a Community.' As we support adults who are working hard to change their lives, they then help their families change. Those kinds of generational changes impact our community in positive ways, and the result is that we all benefit!"

Project Read Plus is connected to the Richland Community College Foundation and is based out of the Decatur Public Library.
